Transeuropa Festival Hildesheim 27.05 - 01.06.2015
The artist Séverine Urwyler invites visitors on her sound massage table for a journey inside their bodies. Similar to the hearing
system of insects - who are listening with their legs - the auditory perception is perceived through structure-borne sound waves
and therefore evokes a new auditory paradigm. Bones and hollow spaces such as a ribcage or a skull are amplifying the sound
and create a very precise sound image. Elsewhere at the peripheral body zones a complete different sonority appears and
evokes physical reactions such as shuddering. The installation plays with the perceptual conventions of the auditory and the
tactile: Lying on the sound massage table your body and the space around you become confused, whilst the present dissolves
into numerous experiences of the here and now.
